Kay Keenan, M.B.A., is a dynamic and creative marketing strategist who delivers results that wow customers and hurdle past their business goals. She’s mostly helped clients with strategic marketing, consumer research, competitive intelligence, and sales and marketing effectiveness.

Kay stuck it out for 18 years at Scott Paper in a progression of operations and then marketing roles. Luckily for her, Scott Paper Company and Kimberly-Clark Corporation merged giving her a great reason to move on. Delmarva Power, a Fortune 500 Investor owned utility, grabbed her to help create a new strategic business unit in the developing deregulated utility world.

Deciding to escape the big company world, Kay founded and ran Growth Consulting—a strategic business and marketing consultancy. Recognizing her exceptional skills, in 2007, she was lured away by one of her clients, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, to lead their Marketing and Communications team. And they were right as she helped them reposition to become a donor and volunteer supported organization, working closely with the Ad Council and achieving millions of dollars of pro bono creative and advertising support for the organization.

As you might expect, this Real Job interfered with Kay’s ability to spend lots of time on Conversation activities. Luckily for them, she’s now back running Growth Consulting and working with Conversation and Bloom Metz (they specialize with non-profit fundraising).

As if all these great jobs weren’t enough, Kay was the fifth president of Wilmington Women in Business and is a past president of the Delaware Forum of Executive Women. She presents regularly on the topics of relationship building and growing your business. Kay serves on a number of not for profit boards and loves to help boards find the right people for their needs. She is the 2012 chair of the American Marketing Associations Nonprofit Marketing Conference.

You know the engineers or the marketers or the executive leadership in a way that gets them to want you to use your human resources knowledge to build a stronger organization.

The Show isn’t a boring slide presentation or a lecture that puts you to sleep. You get to ask your most pressing networking questions, you get to experience the joys of connecting with other participants; you get to walk around and get some exercise while learning how to talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Really!

Everyone needs to keep finding new and interesting people that will become clients and key contacts…or fellow employees…in the future. You probably already know some people destined for these roles but haven’t realized it yet. We hear all the time that people don’t have the time or the energy to develop these connections. Or is it just the fear it’s too much work…and they’re not sure what to do.

We understand the barriers to success that you face. That’s why we created the solution…Conversation on Networking. We guarantee “The Show” will help you overcome your fears and send you off with new skills and the confidence to become a better networker. You will learn skills that will benefit your company in ways that will help to achieve your strategic mission and help grow the organization

The Fresh Start Scholarship Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce the 11-12 scholars. Scholarships totaling $68,800 were awarded to 31 very deserving women. This number represents 21 returning scholars and 10 new scholars. They will be attending 6 different colleges and universities in Delaware representing over 15 different majors in the fields of education, healthcare, social services and business. Geographically, 64% are from New Castle County but all three DE counties are represented. Of the scholars, 20 are mothers who are currently raising a total of 50 dependent children.

The scholars were also able to connect with their WWB mentors at the luncheon.

Fresh Start really is having an impact on the lives of these deserving women! Here are a few examples of the appreciation expressed by this year’s scholars upon learning they would be receiving funding and mentoring support from Fresh Start and WWB:

I wanted to express my gratitude for this scholarship. The arrival of this letter was definitely the highlight of July for me. My daughter’s father passed away suddenly at the beginning of the month, I was in an accident at the end of the month, and I am in the process of moving. So, getting this letter and being awarded the scholarship, and more importantly, a mentor, was the highlight of the month for me. Again, thank you so much for your support and encouragement… Cindi

Thank you so much for this opportunity!! I know it is going to be a difficult road for the next two years, but my family and I know this will be a great beginning for us all…Andrea

I am so honored to receive this award!!! Thank you so much for helping me get another step closer to my dreams…Dorothy
